Belly Dance to many of the uninformed is considered to be 'like stripping' and referred to as a strip tease.  Many people still believe it originated as a dance done by women in the 'harem' to please a 'Sultan'.  Learn what is fantasy, the 'belly lore' and what is fact in the realm of Belly Dance, Dance de Venture, Romany (Gypsy) dancing, Raqs Sharki and Tribal belly dance.  We will talk about the difference in body perception in the West compared to the Middle East, Near East & North Africa, how the dance is believed to have evolved and how the controversy was created about sexuality in the dance form.
